Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL) has made a significant investment of Rs 27 crore to support 28 startups through its 'Udgam' initiative, with a focus on fostering innovation in the clean and green energy sectors. The initiative, which raised a total of Rs 35 crore, targets startups involved in various areas like green hydrogen, ethanol production, emission control technologies, and more. This initiative has been praised by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, emphasizing its role in shaping India's energy future through innovation. Additionally, Oil India Limited has also joined the effort by contributing Rs 50 crore to support 15 startups working on hydrogen fuel cell projects and technological advancements. HPCL's financial performance has shown positive growth, with a significant increase in standalone net profit for the January-March quarter of the financial year 2024-25. Looking forward, HPCL aims to expand the capacity of its Vizag oil refinery to meet the increasing local fuel demand. Through initiatives like 'Udgam,' HPCL is actively contributing to advancing India's clean energy agenda and supporting the growth of innovative startups, aligning with the government's initiatives for promoting entrepreneurship and innovation.
