Hygenco Green Energies, a key player in India's hydrogen and ammonia sector, has initiated the construction of a green ammonia plant in Gopalpur Industrial Park, Odisha. The project's first phase is projected to yield 600 tonnes per day, with full commercial operations slated for 2027. Subsequently, the second phase is expected to double the production by early 2028, culminating in a maximum output capacity of 1.1 million tonnes per annum. In a strategic move, Hygenco engaged in a partnership with Swiss Ameropa in June 2024 to explore the supply of green ammonia from Odisha to both European and Asian markets. This collaboration is a significant milestone in the company's mission to leverage clean energy solutions globally. Furthermore, Hygenco is not only focusing on ammonia production but also on green hydrogen projects in India. With a substantial commitment of $2.5 billion earmarked for green hydrogen and ammonia initiatives over the next three years, Hygenco is driving innovation and sustainability in the Indian energy landscape. The company's recent receipt of the RFNBO pre-certification in early 2025 from Bureau Veritas South Asia Region signifies a key recognition of its efforts. This certification, under the CertifHy scheme acknowledged by the European Commission, paves the way for Hygenco to offer green ammonia solutions to the EU, reinforcing its position in the shift towards a low-carbon and eco-friendly energy future.
