In a high-level meeting in Brescia, Italy, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani focused on strengthening economic ties between India and Italy. Discussions revolved around prioritizing cooperation in strategic sectors like Industry 4.0, aerospace, energy transition, and sustainable mobility. The India-Italy Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation (JCEC) co-chaired by the leaders highlighted the importance of skill development, digital transformation, and global connectivity initiatives. Concrete outcomes included plans to enhance cooperation in agriculture, automobile, and space sectors, along with collaboration opportunities in renewable energy and food processing. The meeting also underscored joint efforts in green hydrogen, biofuels, and facilitating skilled professional movement. A high-level Growth Forum was held, bringing together industry leaders from both countries, and a strong Indian business delegation of nearly 90 companies accompanied Minister Goyal during the visit, reaffirming the commitment to fostering economic resilience, industrial partnerships, and inclusive, sustainable growth.
