Teesworks in the Tees Valley region of the United Kingdom is preparing to showcase plans for Europe's largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The agreement with Natpower UK will see the development of the £1bn 'Teesside Gigapark' on 50 acres of land, capable of providing up to 1000MW/4000MWh of additional green energy to the grid. This project also presents the opportunity to incorporate an electric vehicle charging facility at the site, demonstrating a significant investment in renewable energy infrastructure. Battery storage technology plays a crucial role in facilitating the transition from fossil fuels to renewable sources by storing energy from solar and wind power for when it is needed most. The development aligns with other green energy initiatives at Teesworks, including plans for hydrogen production plants and carbon capture projects, contributing to the growth of well-paid, highly skilled jobs in the region.
