In a high-level meeting, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of Himachal Pradesh directed the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) to enhance transport services, especially considering the challenging terrain of the region. The CM emphasized the need to explore the feasibility of introducing green hydrogen-propelled buses in the near future, recognizing the benefits it could bring to the region. Additionally, plans were discussed to make 297 type-I electric buses operational by March 2026, with the procurement process for 30 more type-II e-buses already underway. The CM also outlined various initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and management, such as developing a single bus pass system, establishing a real-time bus monitoring mechanism, and integrating digital technology into the operations of HRTC. Furthermore, the directive to implement an e-office system at the HRTC headquarters reflects the government's push towards digitalization. As part of the development plans, an HRTC workshop is set to be established in Theog, Shimla district. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri contributed constructive suggestions during the meeting and praised the dedication of the organization's employees, highlighting a collective effort towards enhancing public transport services in Himachal Pradesh.
