Wild Hydrogen, a Gloucester-based company founded in 2022, has developed the Rising Pressure Reformer (RiPR), a groundbreaking technology that can convert diverse feedstocks like seaweed, biomass, and plastics into hydrogen, biomethane, CO2, and biochar using supercritical water gasification. The RiPR process is touted to produce carbon-negative 'clear hydrogen' without the heavy reliance on renewable electricity typically associated with green hydrogen. Led by CEO James Milner, Wild Hydrogen aims to secure £6m in seed funding for a 1MW commercial demonstrator in Easington. This initiative is part of the company's broader mission to provide a scalable, carbon-negative hydrogen solution for global industries, enabling the transition to a net-zero future. The RiPR technology is praised for its tunable nature, allowing the production of various Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) products.
