On May 6, 2025, RINA and PLN Pusertif formalized their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to spur the growth of green hydrogen in Indonesia. The MoU, titled 'Capacity building in the development and utilization of hydrogen in the field of testing, inspection and certification,' outlines several strategic initiatives: 1. Developing green hydrogen certification schemes: This includes certifying the origin of green hydrogen to ensure transparency and traceability in the value chain. 2. Certifying hydrogen facilities and products: The organizations will conduct certification and assessment activities to ensure compliance with international standards. 3. Implementing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and improving energy efficiency: They will employ LCA methodologies to evaluate environmental impacts and enhance energy efficiency in hydrogen production. 4. Providing training and certification in hydrogen competencies: Programs will be designed to upskill personnel in the hydrogen sector. 5. Assisting laboratory development for H₂ testing: The partnership aims to strengthen local laboratories' capabilities in hydrogen testing to maintain world-class standards. Furthermore, the collaboration will explore additional opportunities for cooperation in hydrogen and other energy transition projects. Both RINA and PLN Pusertif express a strong commitment to advancing Indonesia's hydrogen infrastructure, fostering innovation, and aligning with national sustainability objectives. This joint effort underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in driving the transition to sustainable energy sources.
