India has taken significant strides towards the development of green hydrogen, with allocations of production and manufacturing capacities to companies. Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi highlighted India's strategic vision and capabilities in renewable energy and green hydrogen production at the 'World Hydrogen Summit 2025' in Rotterdam, emphasizing the country's goal of energy independence by 2047 and achieving Net Zero emissions by 2070. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, initiated in 2023 with a $2.4 billion allocation, aims to produce 5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030, attract investments of around $100 billion, and create over 600,000 jobs. India also launched the 'Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme' and exempted Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia plants from environmental clearance. Additionally, three major ports and 15 states have been identified to develop as Green Hydrogen hubs and implement supportive policies.
