Minister Pralhad Joshi of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in India has launched the country's Green Hydrogen certification scheme to standardize the production and export of Green Hydrogen. This initiative aims to provide a clear methodology for measurement, monitoring, and certification of Green Hydrogen, ensuring quality and facilitating global trade. Several companies have already signed agreements to supply 4.12 lakh tonnes of Green Hydrogen derivatives to Japan and Singapore, showcasing India's growing presence in the export market. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, inaugurated on January 4, 2023, with a significant budget allocation, seeks to make India self-reliant in clean energy, support the global transition to clean energy, decarbonize the economy, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and establish India as a leader in Green Hydrogen technology. The ministry is also collaborating with states to sign Power Purchase Agreements for renewable energy, encouraging decentralization and local employment opportunities. Minister Joshi emphasized the role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in promoting decentralized renewable energy integration and utilizing their reach to create local jobs, highlighting the inclusive approach of India's Green Hydrogen initiatives.
