OQ Gas Networks SAOG from Oman has entered into a partnership with Gasunie Waterstof Holding B.V. from the Netherlands to advance the development of a green hydrogen infrastructure in Oman. Through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2023, the two companies are collaborating to utilize Oman's abundant solar and wind resources in conjunction with Gasunie's expertise in natural gas and hydrogen networks. Additionally, they are planning to work together on carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), a vital component in the journey towards achieving net zero emissions. This partnership is an evolution of a previous agreement established during COP27 in 2022 and is in line with Oman's Vision 2040, a strategic plan focused on energy mix diversification and long-term economic sustainability. By leveraging renewable energy sources for electrolysis projects and establishing the necessary infrastructure for storage and delivery, Oman and the Netherlands are aiming to position Oman as a significant player in hydrogen production and a key export hub for Northwest Europe. This collaboration emphasizes both countries' dedication to addressing climate change challenges effectively. The joint efforts contribute to the global shift towards cleaner energy solutions, setting the stage for a more sustainable energy future not only regionally but also on a worldwide scale.
