Bolivia is taking significant steps towards embracing green hydrogen with international support in the departments of Oruro, Tarija, and Santa Cruz. The Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy, along with assistance from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), has developed a Roadmap and National Strategy for the Production and Use of Green and Low-Emission Hydrogen. Minister Alejandro Gallardo highlighted the importance of green hydrogen for industrial development, technological innovation, job creation, and overall national growth. Vice Minister Álvaro Arnez mentioned Bolivia's participation in the Certhilac system and the government's efforts to seek funding for pilot projects. The first pilot project is set to be presented in Oruro. The Ministry is also focusing on capacity building programs to prepare the country for the utilization of green hydrogen as a new energy source. Bolivia's approach demonstrates a positive sentiment towards green hydrogen and emphasizes the country's commitment to a fair, inclusive, and sustainable energy transition.
