Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, recently launched India's Green Hydrogen Certification scheme in New Delhi. This initiative aims to bring transparency, traceability, and market credibility to green hydrogen production in India. During the launch event, Minister Joshi highlighted the crucial role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in driving the country's energy transition. These businesses are expected to be the 'backbone' of the National Green Hydrogen Mission's objective of establishing a self-reliant green hydrogen ecosystem by 2030. To further explore opportunities and enhance MSME participation, a national workshop was held with over 300 delegates from various stakeholder groups. The workshop emphasized the need to build capacities, provide financial support, and strengthen technology linkages to enable meaningful MSME involvement in the green hydrogen industry. Discussions at the workshop centered around strategies to integrate MSMEs into large-scale hydrogen projects. Notably, financial institutions such as the World Bank, IREDA, and IIFCL engaged in conversations to develop risk mitigation strategies and green credit lines specifically tailored for MSMEs operating in the green hydrogen sector. The event underscored the importance of collaborative efforts to empower MSMEs and foster a thriving green hydrogen ecosystem in India.
