India and the Netherlands have initiated a strategic partnership to establish a green and digital maritime corridor between the Port of Rotterdam and Indian ports, with a primary focus on enhancing port digitalization and promoting green shipping practices. During a recent visit by Sunil Barthwal, the Commerce Secretary Government of India, discussions were held with Port of Rotterdam officials to explore opportunities for collaboration in technology transfer and sustainable port management. The partnership aims to strengthen bilateral trade cooperation by facilitating the export of green hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol from India to Europe, leveraging the Port of Rotterdam as a gateway. Notably, India's National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched in 2023, is a key component of this collaboration, as it targets the establishment of hydrogen hubs and the promotion of green hydrogen-based fuels in the maritime industry. Additionally, India has joined hands with Germany to launch the 'Indo-German Green Hydrogen Roadmap' to further accelerate the adoption of green hydrogen and drive sustainable development. Through joint initiatives focused on maritime digitalization, logistics optimization, and sustainable trade growth, India and the Netherlands are paving the way for a more environmentally friendly and efficient maritime sector.
