The Inner Mongolia section of the hydrogen transmission pipeline demonstration project from Ulanqab City to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has received official approval, marking a significant milestone in China's efforts towards green hydrogen infrastructure. This project, considered the first of its kind in China, is designed to facilitate large-scale green hydrogen transmission and develop a commercial model encompassing production, storage, transmission, and utilization of hydrogen energy. Financed and executed by Sinopec New Star (Inner Mongolia) West Hydrogen East Transmission New Energy Co., Ltd., the pipeline aims to reduce transportation costs, drive green hydrogen consumption, and support the establishment of a complete industry chain for hydrogen energy in Inner Mongolia. The construction, set to commence from November 2025, will extend until December 2027, with an investment exceeding 1.5 billion yuan. The pipeline will cover approximately 119 kilometers, including the construction of two new stations and three valve chambers, with a design pressure of 6.3 MPa. Initially, the transmission capacity will be 100,000 mt per year, with provisions to scale up to 500,000 mt annually. This initiative signifies a strategic move towards fostering a sustainable green energy landscape and advancing hydrogen utilization across multiple sectors.
