The Government of Odisha, in collaboration with central ministries and major green hydrogen developers, convened to review the progress of green hydrogen projects in the state. The meeting's focus was on advancing the transition towards clean energy, particularly emphasizing production infrastructure, mobility solutions, and investment planning. Key highlights from the gathering include updates on significant projects such as Sembcorp's green hydrogen plant with a capacity of 720,000 MT per year and NTPC's green hydrogen-based public transport initiative in Bhubaneswar. Hygenco has also initiated the construction of a large green ammonia plant in Gopalpur, illustrating Odisha's commitment to renewable energy. Notably, Odisha is emerging as a central hub for green hydrogen innovation, with Union Minister Pralhad Joshi praising the state's substantial renewable energy potential. The commitment of over ₹40,000 crore by REC towards green hydrogen and ammonia projects further underscores the state's clean energy ambitions. Stakeholders have agreed to enhance collaboration in research, secure power purchase agreements, and simplify regulatory procedures. The focus is on developing critical pipeline and logistics infrastructure to bolster hydrogen distribution. This concerted effort aims to position Odisha at the forefront of India's green hydrogen mission through strong government backing and strategic partnerships, driving the nation's transition to clean energy.
