Italgas, Gaxa (a subsidiary of Edison Energia), and Granarolo recently announced a groundbreaking agreement to supply green hydrogen to a dairy facility in Sardinia, Italy. This collaboration marks a significant milestone as it represents the first time in Italy that a blend containing up to 20% hydrogen will be continuously supplied to a production facility. The hydrogen, derived from renewable sources, will be produced at Italgas' Power to Gas plant and distributed through the group's advanced 'natively digital' networks in Sardinia. Commencing from September 2025, the hydrogen, blended with methane, will be transported to Granarolo's Casearia Podda facility in Sestu, situated in the province of Cagliari, utilizing Gaxa's supply network. This initiative is a positive step towards enhancing sustainability in the energy sector and showcases the potential for hydrogen to play a crucial role in the industrial landscape.
