In a high-level meeting chaired by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi and Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Odisha's significant role in India's clean energy transition was underlined. The state is gearing up to be a major producer and exporter of Green Hydrogen derivatives like Green Ammonia and Green Methanol, leveraging its coastal advantage and existing industrial base around ports like Paradip and Gopalpur. This initiative aligns with the National Green Hydrogen Mission's goal of positioning India as a global hub for Green Hydrogen production and export. While recognizing the strategic advantages, the meeting also addressed challenges such as water availability and renewable energy integration that need to be overcome for full-scale deployment. Additionally, discussions focused on the state's performance in rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar scheme and plans to enhance solar power access for farmers through Feeder Level Solarisation as part of the PM-KUSUM scheme. Odisha's proactive stance and efforts to drive clean energy initiatives showcase a positive trajectory for sustainable development in the region.
