GeoPura and the Ministry of Defence (MOD) collaborated on a significant hydrogen power trial aimed at charging battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) using green hydrogen at MOD sites. This military application of hydrogen technology represents a pivotal advancement in sustainable energy solutions for the defence sector. The trial featured GeoPura's Hydrogen-Powered Generators (HPUs) at multiple MOD locations, enabling rapid charging of BEVs while showcasing the scalability and reliability of hydrogen power for fleet charging infrastructure. By eliminating grid capacity constraints, the HPUs allowed the MOD to efficiently meet the expanding demands of electric vehicle charging. The trial demonstrated the capability of HPUs to provide both AC and fast DC charging, operating off grid and supplementing grid power as needed. Insights from the trial will guide GeoPura's future research efforts towards developing compact, mobile hydrogen systems for shorter deployments and high-power systems for broader operational requirements at home and overseas. MOD's commitment to sustainability was highlighted through embracing innovative solutions like hydrogen power, emphasizing the importance of zero-emissions energy transition and enhanced operational efficiency.
