Stadtwerke Stuttgart GmbH has initiated the construction of a Green Hydrogen Hub in Stuttgart, with Maximator Hydrogen providing a crucial H2 compressor system for the project. The hub aims to produce, transport, and utilize green hydrogen locally for industries and mobility within the region. This comprehensive system will involve the production of green hydrogen using three electrolysers with a total output of nine megawatts, ensuring supply to companies and creating an economically feasible hydrogen network focused on industry and mobility sectors. The hydrogen will be distributed through pipelines and trailers within the Stuttgart area, with plans for extending the pipeline to Esslingen to connect producers and users. Maximator Hydrogen's compression systems play a vital role in maintaining the required pressures for distributing and utilizing hydrogen effectively. The company's MAX Compression System 2.0, incorporating patented technology for Automatic Seal Exchange, guarantees high availability and reliability without production downtime. The system includes two compressors, each with 250 kilowatts of hydraulic drive power, supporting various hydrogen distribution points such as trailer filling stations and a delivery station, along with the H2 GeNeSiS pipeline. The collaboration between Stadtwerke Stuttgart, Maximator Hydrogen, and other stakeholders has resulted in the establishment of a nine megawatt electrolysis plant and a compressor system, laying the foundation for the hub's initial production capacity of around 720 tons of green hydrogen per year. Future expansions, including a planned increase to 12 megawatts and beyond, are already in the pipeline, showcasing the scalability and adaptability of Maximator Hydrogen's components. Rene Himmelstein, CSO of Maximator Hydrogen, has expressed appreciation for the opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking system that enhances regional performance and competitiveness, ultimately setting the region up for a sustainable future. The project, scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, is backed by funding from the European Union, the state of Baden-Württemberg, and the Verband Region Stuttgart, highlighting the collaborative support for hydrogen initiatives and sustainable development in the region.
