The Green Hydrogen Programme (NGH2P) in Namibia is set to launch another round of scholarship opportunities worth N$25 million in July. The goal is to address the skills and capacity gap in the hydrogen sector. So far, 183 scholarships have been granted to Namibian youth, focusing on fields aligned with green industrialization. The upcoming scholarship program will target young individuals in the Hardap and //Kharas regions, with an additional 1.3 million euros allocated for capacity-building initiatives in these areas. The green hydrogen industry in Namibia has employed 800 people but aims to create 250,000 jobs, including direct roles and related opportunities in various sectors. Investments in the sector have reached N$2.08 billion by the first quarter of 2025. Additionally, the NGH2P has completed pre-feasibility studies on projects like ammonia and fertilizer production facilities, gigawatt-scale green hydrogen initiatives, and offshore wind projects to drive further economic growth and sustainability.
