Newfoundland and Labrador is strengthening its support for the wind-hydrogen industry by signing a memorandum of understanding with the Port of Amsterdam. Premier John Hogan formalized the agreement while attending the World Hydrogen 2025 Summit and Exhibition in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The MOU aims to facilitate collaboration between the province and the Port of Amsterdam on green hydrogen issues, opportunities, and potential projects. This move is part of the province's strategy to harness its renewable energy resources for green hydrogen production and export. While the province currently lacks active wind-to-hydrogen projects, it has several initiatives in development. Despite some downsizing and exploring alternative business cases for wind energy farms, Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to leveraging its resources for the global green hydrogen market. The province's Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology emphasized the importance of having policies, support, and agreements in place to seize the green hydrogen opportunity. By participating in events like the World Hydrogen Summit and Exhibition, Newfoundland and Labrador aims to foster relationships and drive industry growth.
