Sarawak has achieved a significant milestone by commencing the testing of its inaugural green hydrogen station at the second PETROS Multifuel Station in Batu Kawa. This initiative represents a notable advancement in the state's hydrogen economy and commitment to clean energy. The green hydrogen, which is produced off-site at Darul Hana, is intended to serve a variety of vehicles, including petrol, electric, and hydrogen-powered ones. Despite pending final paperwork approval from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living in Kuala Lumpur, this undertaking emphasizes the importance of hydrogen refuelling points in SEDC Energy's pilot initiatives and continuous operational enhancements. Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Sarawak's Deputy Premier, personally tested the station by refuelling a Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle, underscoring the vehicle's emission-free operation that converts hydrogen to water vapour. This testing reinforces the environmental benefits of hydrogen-fuelled vehicles, which produce minimal harmful emissions compared to traditional petrol vehicles. Additionally, the collaboration between SEDC Energy and Petronas's Lestari H2Gaas signifies collective efforts towards promoting green energy solutions and sustainable transportation in Sarawak.
