Spain has emerged as a key player in the green hydrogen sector, as highlighted by its recent success in the European Hydrogen Bank (EHB) auction. The country secured a significant portion of the project awards, with eight out of 15 selected projects being based in Spain. This success underscores the cost advantages offered by renewable power sources in southern Europe, further solidifying Spain's position as a leading green hydrogen production hub within the EU. The winning projects in Spain collectively represent just under 900MW of electrolyser capacity, showcasing a substantial contribution to the country's hydrogen production capabilities. Additionally, Spain's dominance is emphasized by the fact that it now accounts for half of the total winning projects in the first two EHB auctions. This trend not only reflects Spain's commitment to green energy initiatives but also signals a positive momentum for the growth of green hydrogen projects in the region.
