Sparc Hydrogen, in partnership with the University of Adelaide, has been awarded a $2.75 million grant from the Australian Government's Economic Accelerator (AEA) Innovate program. This funding is designated for the advancement of a groundbreaking green hydrogen production technology. The grant will specifically aid in the operation of Sparc Hydrogen's pilot plant located in Roseworthy, South Australia, and will facilitate ongoing research, development, and commercialization endeavors. Sparc's innovative approach involves the utilization of a patented photocatalytic water splitting reactor technology, a project that has been in progress since 2022. The joint venture between Sparc Technologies, Fortescue Ltd, and the University of Adelaide has received recognition for the competitiveness and potential of its hydrogen technology through the rigorous selection process for the grant. Sparc Managing Director, Nick O'Loughlin, expressed excitement over this significant grant, emphasizing its role in accelerating the development of their green hydrogen technology. This grant, distributed over 24 months, will be complemented by existing financial and in-kind contributions from Sparc Hydrogen and its shareholders, without the need for additional shareholder funding.
