Lombardy is making significant strides towards sustainable mobility with the introduction of five hydrogen refueling stations for motor vehicles, set to be operational from 2026 onwards. The first station, located in Carugate on the Tangenziale Est of Milan, will be followed by four more across the region. This initiative, promoted by Milano Serravalle – Milano Tangenziali, aims to establish a hydrogen mobility model in Italy and contribute to the European decarbonisation agenda. The project received a total investment of 55 million euros, with funding from PNRR and the European community, showcasing a strong belief in hydrogen as a sustainable transport alternative. The strategic development area also includes the H2iseO Hydrogen Valley project for local public transport. The introduction of hydrogen aligns with the Fnm Group's objectives for energy efficiency and emission reduction, emphasizing a shift towards sustainable mobility systems. Overall, the project signifies a crucial step towards creating a national network for hydrogen road mobility, reinforcing Lombardy's commitment to innovation, low-emission transport, and European decarbonisation goals.
