The proposed facility is extensive, incorporating a wind farm, green hydrogen electrolysers, a desalination plant, an ammonia production center, and maritime infrastructure for international shipping. Once operational by 2030, the project is set to produce up to 10,800 metric tonnes of ammonia per day for clean fuel and fertiliser exports. While Chile is rich in renewable energy resources, permitting delays have hindered progress in the green hydrogen sector. TotalEnergies expects the environmental approval process to span two years, with construction slated for 2027.
