Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Ohmium International have announced a partnership to develop green hydrogen-based power solutions in India. This collaboration will focus on exploring the feasibility of microgrids for various applications, leveraging Toyota's technical knowledge and Ohmium's PEM electrolyzers. The initiative supports India's goal of a self-reliant and carbon-neutral future by endorsing hydrogen as a clean energy source. The Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two companies will see Toyota Kirloskar Motor providing technical expertise, system integration support, and fuel cell modules, while Ohmium will lead in designing, developing, and evaluating the performance of a microgrid solution prototype. Ohmium specializes in modular and cost-effective PEM electrolyzers for green hydrogen production. The partnership aims to extend the use of hydrogen fuel cell technology beyond mobility to applications like stationary power generation, rural power supply, and industrial spaces. The collaboration will focus on overcoming challenges such as storing hydrogen on the ground and testing the efficiency of microgrids in real-world conditions. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari praised the initiative, highlighting hydrogen as a key future fuel for India's self-reliance and carbon neutrality. He commended Toyota and Ohmium for their efforts in advancing cleaner energy solutions. Ohmium International's CEO, Arne Ballantine, expressed optimism about harnessing hydrogen's potential for India's energy security and sustainability, aiming to make India a leader in sustainable energy.
