Italian crane manufacturer JMG has made a significant advancement in the field of industrial lifting by unveiling its first Hydrogen hybrid lifting machine at the Hydrogen Expo in Piacenza. This new machine, based on the standard 25-tonne electric drive MC250.09FL heavy-duty pick & carry forklift/crane, incorporates a Hydrogen fuel cell module and a lithium-ion battery pack. The heart of this innovative machine is the FCH 96V module, a fuel cell system utilizing PEFC technology, along with a 6kg hydrogen tank and a 30kWh lithium buffer battery. The machine is designed to provide around 2-3 hours of normal use on the battery alone, with the fuel cell system kicking in to extend the operation to 5-6 hours before refueling is needed. Refilling the hydrogen tank takes approximately five minutes, and recharging the lithium battery requires about 90 minutes. The layout and specifications of the hydrogen model remain similar to the standard battery-powered version, allowing for easy interchangeability of the power systems. CEO Maurizio Manzini emphasized the significance of this new technology as a pivotal moment for JMG, showcasing their commitment to energy transition in industrial lifting. The introduction of this flexible and scalable energy system is seen as a crucial step in advancing sustainability and green energy practices within the industry. The new hybrid lifting machine is expected to be available for shipping in the near future, representing an important milestone in JMG's R&D efforts and setting the stage for a new era in industrial lifting equipment.
