Three major automotive manufacturers, BMW, Hyundai, and Toyota, have teamed up to establish the Hydrogen Transport Forum (HTF) in Australia. This forum aims to promote the growth of the hydrogen transport industry by facilitating collaboration among stakeholders. The HTF will serve as a platform for the industry to identify opportunities, align fleet and infrastructure, and advocate for supportive government policies. It is set to complement existing industry bodies and address a critical gap in Australia's hydrogen ecosystem. The forum is expected to welcome members from various sectors, including hydrogen passenger cars, trucks, and buses. The HTF will focus on accelerating the rollout of hydrogen infrastructure by identifying fleet demand clusters, consolidating industry efforts, advocating for funding, and raising awareness among stakeholders about the potential of hydrogen transport in achieving a low-emissions future. Modeled after H2Accelerate in Europe, the HTF was soft-launched at the 2025 Brisbane Truck Show, signaling a proactive step towards industry-wide coordination and commitment to building a sustainable hydrogen refueling and vehicle ecosystem in Australia.
