- The partnership marks a milestone in establishing a robust and sustainable green energy supply chain, contributing to India's net-zero ambitions and supporting global decarbonization efforts.
AM Green and the Port of Rotterdam Authority have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on building a green energy supply chain between India and Northwestern Europe via Rotterdam, a key hydrogen carriers entry point. The focus is on developing the green fuels bunkering market, terminal infrastructure, and port development for Net Zero Industrial Clusters. The partnership aims to support safe distribution of hydrogen-based fuels, link India's Net Zero Industrial Clusters to Europe, and enable trade of green fuels up to USD 1 billion annually.
The agreement is part of AM Green's ambitious goal to develop 5,000,000 tons of Green Ammonia production capacity by 2030 to meet the rising global demand for green fuels. The Port of Rotterdam, on the other hand, plays a critical logistics and hydrogen hub role for Europe, with around 13% of the total energy demand in Europe entering via Rotterdam. Together, they aim to fulfill India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and Europe's decarbonization goals.
The collaboration will focus on supporting the development of strategic port infrastructure for safe distribution of hydrogen-based fuels and products. This infrastructure will enable the seamless movement of green molecules and fuels from India to Europe, reinforcing AM Green's position as a global clean energy transition platform and accelerating industrial decarbonization globally.
The Port of Rotterdam Authority emphasizes sustainable development, efficient port operations, and safe maritime traffic. With a strong commitment to quality and climate-neutral port development, the Authority aims to strengthen the port's role as a future-proof logistics and industrial hub. AM Green, promoted by the founders of Greenko Group, is a leading renewable energy conglomerate in India. It focuses on producing Sustainable Aviation Fuel, Green Ammonia, Green Hydrogen, Green Chemicals, and biofuels through its subsidiaries, with a commitment to achieving significant green ammonia production targets by 2030. The partnership between AM Green and the Port of Rotterdam marks a significant milestone in establishing a global carbon-free energy ecosystem.
