Karikari Achireko Kwagyan has been nominated for two prestigious categories at the 8th Ghana Energy Awards, recognizing his significant influence in Africa's clean energy transition. As the Director of Energy and Climate Finance at the Africa Sustainable Energy Centre (ASEC), he leads regional investment strategies aimed at accelerating Africa's energy transition. Kwagyan's portfolio includes designing blended finance structures, mobilizing climate-aligned capital, and supporting governments in deploying sustainable energy infrastructure. His diverse career has involved working with the World Bank and the Electricity Company of Ghana, contributing to decarbonisation strategies and improving energy access. Currently, as a graduate researcher at MIT, he focuses on nuclear cogeneration systems and the role of advanced nuclear reactors in decarbonising industrial processes, including hydrogen production. Kwagyan is a member of the World Energy Council's FEL-100 program, advocating for green hydrogen development, advanced clean technologies, and policy reforms for sustainable energy access in Ghana.
