In a groundbreaking development, the Adani Group has successfully operationalised India's first off-grid 5 megawatt green hydrogen plant in Gujarat's Kutch district. This pioneering project, executed by Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL), operates entirely on solar energy and includes a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for continuous off-grid functioning. By dynamically adjusting to real-time renewable energy input, the plant ensures operational flexibility and reliability. The integration of BESS enables efficient handling of solar energy intermittency while maintaining consistent hydrogen output. Adani described this achievement as a significant milestone in line with India's National Green Hydrogen Mission. The plant not only showcases the feasibility of renewable-powered hydrogen production but also serves as a model for emission-heavy industries seeking sustainable energy transitions. The green hydrogen produced is a cleaner alternative to grey hydrogen derived from fossil fuels, aligning with environmental sustainability goals.
