Gyeongnam Energy in Changwon, South Korea, has partnered with the Korea Gas Corporation to enhance the hydrogen industry by boosting demand sources. The recent signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aims to establish a stable hydrogen supply network and expand the demand base in the Yeongnam region, with a specific focus on the Changwon Hydrogen Production Base. This joint effort includes activities such as finding and marketing hydrogen demand sources, developing supply plans, and sharing information to foster a well-connected hydrogen industry ecosystem. Gyeongnam Energy, chosen as the consignment operator for the Changwon hydrogen production base, has been consistently producing up to 10 tons of hydrogen per day since the beginning of the year. While Korea Gas Corporation handles production, Gyeongnam Energy oversees overall facility operations and safety management. The emphasis is on improving production efficiency and quality to secure hydrogen energy and stabilize regional supply chains. CEO Shin Chang-dong affirmed that this collaboration is more than just operational; it aims to accelerate the establishment of a sustainable hydrogen ecosystem, leading to the creation of jobs for youth and the revitalization of the local economy.
