The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) organized a one-day National Workshop in New Delhi on the opportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Green Hydrogen Supply Chain. The workshop aimed to explore the key role of MSMEs in developing India's green hydrogen ecosystem. Over 300 delegates from various stakeholder groups participated, including MSMEs, policymakers, technology providers, industry associations, and international partners.
During the workshop, Shri Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi, the Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, highlighted the government's commitment to innovation-led growth and the essential role of MSMEs in India's energy transition. The launch of the Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme of India was announced to ensure transparency and market credibility in green hydrogen production.
The workshop featured technical sessions focusing on technology collaboration for MSMEs, business opportunities in the green hydrogen supply chain, decentralized hydrogen production through biomass, and catalyzing investments in the green hydrogen ecosystem. Experts discussed strategies to empower MSMEs to participate meaningfully in the green hydrogen sector.
Participants emphasized the need for standardized protocols, joint innovation platforms, and the formation of Green Hydrogen Clusters to enhance MSME capacities. The discussions also highlighted the importance of clear demand signals and long-term policy stability to attract private investment in the sector.
The National Green Hydrogen Mission aims to make India a global hub for green hydrogen production, usage, and export by 2030. It is expected to lead to substantial outcomes, including the development of green hydrogen production capacity, significant investments, job creation, reduced fossil fuel imports, and abatement of greenhouse gas emissions. The mission signifies a significant step towards a technology-driven and inclusive green hydrogen economy in India.
