The UK government has announced its continued support for industrial decarbonisation and the transition to a low-carbon future. Despite the cancellation of the second competition window of IETF Phase 3, all current projects in Phases 1, 2, and the first Phase 3 competition window will be completed as planned, thanks to the government's commitment of £163 million in the Autumn 2024 Budget. The government emphasizes its backing for the development and deployment of technologies that assist businesses with high energy usage in moving towards a low-carbon economy. Particularly, there is a focus on supporting electrification, carbon capture, and the establishment of hydrogen infrastructure. More insights into industrial decarbonisation, including plans for fuel switching to electrification, will be provided in the Carbon Budget and Growth Delivery Plan scheduled for release in October. The government has also provided links for additional support in this transition.
