Chile's green hydrogen industry is experiencing a significant growth phase, marked by substantial investments and the potential for innovation and sustainability. However, a key aspect that requires urgent attention is the low representation of women in the sector, particularly in technical and operational positions. Current statistics reveal that only 21.3% of the energy workforce in Chile consists of women, dropping to less than 5% in technical roles. Without intervention, the trend of male dominance in traditional energies is likely to replicate in the green hydrogen industry. To address this issue, there is a call for a structural transformation in the industry's culture, including ensuring fair salary policies, providing training and leadership opportunities, and implementing protocols against harassment and discrimination. Efforts are being made to integrate gender perspectives into organizations, with initiatives like the Green Hydrogen Action Plan 2023-2030 and the CORFO Financing Program for H2V projects emphasizing gender equality. Real inclusion of women is emphasized as crucial for making better decisions, fostering innovation, and achieving higher returns. The role of networks like Women in Green Hydrogen is highlighted for promoting female leadership and sharing solutions internationally. Ultimately, the article stresses that for Chile to lead as a global hub for green hydrogen, it must embrace social leadership by ensuring the inclusion of women in the industry, making the energy transition fair and sustainable.
