Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has introduced the New Energy Hybrid Academy (NEHA) – Natural Gas in Mumbai, targeting the upskilling of teams in the City Gas Distribution (CGD) sector. The initiative, inaugurated by Director–HR K S Shetty, aims to boost technical and operational skills in the industry. HPCL's unveiling of NEHA-Natural Gas coincided with the commissioning of its 5 MMTPA Chhara LNG regasification terminal in Gujarat, showcasing the company's commitment to increasing natural gas usage in India's energy mix. NEHA will provide training and workshops to develop a skilled workforce across CGD geographies, with a focus on fostering collaboration and ensuring a talent pool for the gas sector. HPCL's sustainability roadmap includes investments in CBG plants, a green hydrogen plant, renewable capacity, and solarisation of fuel outlets. By launching NEHA, HPCL contributes to strengthening India's natural gas infrastructure, supporting the government's goals of boosting gas usage to 15% by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
