During her visit to Staffordshire, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves MP commended two notable firms in the county for their achievements. The Chancellor chose Cosy Direct in Burton upon Trent to launch the Government's Trade Strategy, praising the company's sustainable educational resources and international trade success. CEO Peter Ellse expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the vital role of medium-sized businesses in driving economic growth and job creation. Ms Reeves encouraged more businesses to follow Cosy's example and expand their operations. Moving on to JCB's World Headquarters in Rocester, the Chancellor lauded the company's £100 million investment in hydrogen engines and equipment. She witnessed the progress made in hydrogen refuelling technology and commended JCB for their efforts in decarbonising the construction industry. The visit included a demonstration of a prototype digger powered by a hydrogen combustion engine, showcasing the innovative work of over 100 engineers at JCB Power Systems in Foston, Derbyshire.
