The Victorian Minister for Industry and Advanced Manufacturing, Colin Brooks, has announced the launch of the second round of the Skills Solutions Partnerships Program with a substantial investment of $4.75 million by the Labor Government. This initiative aims to foster collaboration between industry partners, TAFEs, and dual sector universities in Victoria to develop and trial innovative short courses. The program specifically targets priority sectors such as advanced manufacturing and automotive to tackle skills shortages effectively. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to co-design new training and on-the-job learning models, with the chance to secure up to $500,000 in matched funding to pilot their proposed solutions. The first round of the program supported various pilot projects across sectors like manufacturing, clean economy, digital, construction, healthcare, and social services, demonstrating potential for expansion to benefit more businesses and workers. One notable project involves upskilling auto technicians to service hydrogen-powered trucks and buses, showing a commitment to sustainable practices.
