The People's Government of Shuicheng District, Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province, has unveiled an 'Announcement on the Action Plan for the Development of the Hydrogen Energy Industry in Shuicheng District (2025-2035).' The plan outlines a strategic approach to leverage the 2 million mt/year coal coking project of Guizhou Energy to kickstart hydrogen production from coke oven gas. The district aims to use public transportation and heavy-duty coal transport trucks to showcase the applications of hydrogen technology. The initiative includes the construction of infrastructure for hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and refueling stations. It also focuses on promoting the use of over 50 hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks in the transportation sector. The plan involves establishing a hydrogen production plant, building hydrogen refueling stations, and attracting enterprises engaged in fuel cell vehicle operations. In Phase I (by 2025), the district plans to lay the foundation by developing a circular economy project that includes coal coking and power generation. This phase aims to create a complete industry chain for coal utilization and waste heat management, with an expected annual production of over 3 billion m³ of hydrogen. Phase II (by 2028) focuses on strengthening the industry chain by promoting the application of fuel cell vehicles and expanding the scale of hydrogen energy projects. The district aims to establish closed-loop transportation scenarios, introduce new enterprises in the sector, and enhance industry innovation resources. Overall, the government is positive about the prospects of the hydrogen energy industry in Shuicheng District. It is actively seeking national support, fostering innovation, and attracting investments to build a sustainable and comprehensive ecosystem for hydrogen technology development and application.
