Zero-emission bus manufacturer Wrightbus has supplied 12 new hydrogen buses to WestVerkehr GmbH, a German operator located in North Rhine-Westphalia. These hydrogen-powered Kite Hydroliner single decks bring the total of such buses in Germany to 43, with a projected 130 to be operational by the end of 2025. The buses will connect Heinsberg, Hückelhoven, and Erkelenz. WestVerkehr's Managing Director expressed commitment to environmentally friendly mobility and praised the partnership with Wrightbus. Various officials highlighted the positive impact of hydrogen buses on the environment, quality of life, and local transport transformation. The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs supported WestVerkehr's initiative with 3.4 million euros. Wrightbus also announced plans to deliver more hydrogen buses to different operators in 2025. In addition, a European service center is opened in Brühl to maintain buses and provide spare parts. The Kite Hydroliner FCEV offers a long range and quick refueling, meeting safety regulations and accommodating up to 90 passengers.
