Andhra Pradesh's government, led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has taken a significant step towards establishing the state as India's Hydrogen Valley by signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹51,000 crore in clean energy investments. The MoUs, signed at the Green Hydrogen Summit held at SRM University in Amaravati, include projects by UK-based Yamna and local companies JKSH Green Power and Hynfra. Yamna will invest ₹16,000 crore in a green ammonia project at Krishnapatnam, while JKSH Green Power and Hynfra will collectively invest ₹35,000 crore in a project at Machilipatnam focusing on green hydrogen and ammonia production.
The projects are expected to create over 10,500 green jobs, contributing to the state's economic development. Chief Minister Naidu highlighted the state's potential in the clean energy sector, emphasizing its abundance of renewable resources like solar and wind energy, as well as its strategic coastline for exporting green hydrogen and ammonia. Naidu outlined the vision of converging technology, infrastructure, and innovation to propel Andhra Pradesh's role in the clean energy transition.
Apart from green hydrogen production, Andhra Pradesh's Clean Energy Policy encompasses the entire ecosystem, including initiatives for electrolyser manufacturing, solar and wind projects, pumped storage solutions, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. This holistic approach aims to position Andhra Pradesh as a leader in sustainable and innovative energy practices, aligning with global trends towards decarbonization and environmental responsibility.
