- This strategic move diversifies D3 Energy's portfolio, making it a key player in the global helium sector alongside its core asset in South Africa.
D3 Energy Ltd, listed on the ASX and OTCQB, has increased its exploration presence by acquiring two significant permits—PEL 121 and PEL 122—in South Australia's Arckaringa Basin. This move, facilitated by the acquisition of Unleash Energy Pty Ltd, marks an entry into Australia's emerging clean energy corridors. The basin, although underexplored, shows similarities to the helium-rich Amadeus Basin, indicating potential for helium and hydrogen discovery. Key prospects like Hydrohelix and Cootanoorina have already been identified, with Hydrohelix being drill-ready. Additionally, nine more leads have been mapped across PEL 121, with plans for resource certification and attracting joint venture funding through a farmout process. This acquisition expands D3 Energy's focus from its core asset in South Africa to become a multi-jurisdictional player in helium and hydrogen exploration. Managing director David Casey emphasizes the significance of this step in establishing the company as a major presence in the global helium sector.
