  • The projects aim to produce 71,000 tonnes of green hydrogen and 400,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually, contributing to Oman's clean energy strategy.
  • ACME's Phase 1 facility, set to produce 100,000 tonnes of green ammonia, is under construction with plans for subsequent phases by 2033.
  • Hydrom's growing portfolio, now at nine projects with a production target of 1.5 million tonnes of green hydrogen per year by 2030, attracts global investors.
The recent agreements between the India-headquartered ACME Group and Hydrom in Oman mark a significant step forward in the country's green hydrogen ambitions. The signed Project Development and Usufruct Agreements bring ACME's Phase 2 and 3 hydrogen and ammonia projects under Hydrom's oversight in Duqm. ACME's Country Manager in Oman expressed strong confidence in Oman's clean energy strategy and vision for global leadership in green hydrogen. The projects, spanning 80 square kilometers in Duqm's Special Economic Zone, are expected to produce substantial amounts of green hydrogen and ammonia annually, complementing the existing Phase 1 facility. ACME aims to start production by Q1 2027 for Phase 1, with subsequent phases planned up to 2033. The partnership focuses on exporting green ammonia to Europe and Far East Asia, leveraging Oman's cost-effective production capabilities. Hydrom's Managing Director highlighted the regulatory alignment achieved through this collaboration, emphasizing Oman's commitment to building a green hydrogen ecosystem. With a portfolio now totaling nine projects and significant investments, Hydrom targets a substantial green hydrogen production capacity by 2030 powered by renewable energy sources. The partnership also supports Hydrom's ongoing land auction round, aiming to attract more investors and ensure successful project execution. Overall, the agreements signal a positive outlook for Oman's renewable energy sector and its role in the global green hydrogen market.
