Adani Enterprises has introduced India’s first hydrogen fuel cell truck in Raipur, a groundbreaking advancement in sustainable cargo transport. Developed in partnership with Indian and international energy tech firms and a major auto manufacturer, the hydrogen truck can transport up to 40 tonnes of cargo across a 200-km range using three hydrogen tanks. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai hailed the launch as a demonstration of the state's commitment to sustainability, emphasizing how initiatives like this will significantly decrease the carbon footprint and establish new industry standards. The truck, which will be used to transport coal from the Gare Pelma III Block to a state-operated power plant, forms part of Adani's broader decarbonisation strategy. Adani Natural Resources (ANR) and Adani New Industries (ANIL) are leading the effort, with the hydrogen cells being sourced internally. ANIL also oversees operations related to green hydrogen, solar modules, wind turbines, and battery production, showcasing a holistic approach to clean energy. Concurrently, GreenLine Mobility Solutions, a subsidiary of the Essar Group, has expanded its fleet with the addition of LNG-powered trucks. Financed with support from Shriram Finance, this new fleet was inaugurated in Chakan, Pune. With their existing fleet having covered over 40 million km and saved more than 10,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions, GreenLine has set ambitious targets to scale up to 10,000 LNG and electric vehicle (EV) trucks nationwide. This expansion will be complemented by the establishment of 100 fueling and charging stations, highlighting a concerted effort towards reducing emissions and promoting environmentally friendly transport solutions.
