Cadiz Inc. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UK-based Hoku Energy Limited and its affiliates to develop a significant clean energy campus at Cadiz Ranch in California's Mojave Desert. This partnership marks the second prospective land lease for clean energy development that Cadiz Inc. has secured within the past year. The agreement grants Hoku Energy a three-year exclusive option to develop various projects, including green hydrogen production facilities, renewable power generation, battery storage, and digital infrastructure like data centers on over 10,000 acres at Cadiz Ranch. The MOU with Hoku Energy complements Cadiz's existing ventures, such as the development of the Mojave Groundwater Bank and a green hydrogen production facility in collaboration with RIC Energy. The collaboration aims to solidify Cadiz Ranch as a leading clean energy campus and green hydrogen production hub in North America, leveraging the property's extensive infrastructure and resources. Susan Kennedy, Chair of Cadiz Inc., expressed that the agreement with Hoku Energy aligns with their long-term strategy for sustainable development of energy and water assets in California and the Southwest.
