Key Ideas
  • Scale Green Energy in Spain to receive over €8 million for a network of renewable hydrogen refuelling stations under the CEF for Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facilities.
  • The ECOhynet project will establish six hydrogen refuelling stations with a daily capacity of 1,000 kg each, supporting light and heavy vehicles in Spain.
  • The European Commission has approved 100% of the funds requested for the project, totaling an investment of over €26.7 million for renewable hydrogen mobility.
  • Enagás' subsidiary aims to develop a comprehensive strategy involving multiple stakeholders to promote the use of renewable hydrogen in Spain.
Enagás, a major Spanish natural gas infrastructure company, through its subsidiary Scale Green Energy, has secured funding of over €8 million to deploy a network of renewable hydrogen refuelling stations in Spain. This funding comes as a part of the ECOhynet project, which aims to establish six hydrogen refuelling stations along the Atlantic and Mediterranean corridors of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). Each station will have a daily capacity of 1,000 kg and will supply hydrogen produced from renewable sources at varying pressures to cater to both light and heavy vehicles. The European Commission has fully approved the funds requested for this initiative, amounting to a total investment of over €26.7 million. Enagás' subsidiary plans to collaborate with various companies and stakeholders to create a cross-platform strategy for promoting renewable hydrogen mobility in Spain, emphasizing sustainability and innovation in the transportation sector.
