L&T Energy GreenTech, a subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro (L&T), has secured a contract to develop and operate a green hydrogen production plant for Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) in Panipat, India. The plant, with an annual production capacity of 10,000 tonnes, will be one of the largest green hydrogen projects in the country. The project, developed under a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model, will run for 30 months and supply green hydrogen to IOCL for 25 years. The plant will operate 24x7 using electrolysis powered by renewable energy. This initiative supports India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and aims to contribute to long-term decarbonization goals. The project not only benefits IOCL in decarbonizing its operations but also sets a precedent for large-scale green hydrogen projects in India. L&T's expertise in EPC projects positions it as a leader in India's hydrogen economy. The development of this project comes after L&T Energy GreenTech established a new subsidiary focusing on green hydrogen and its derivatives.
