L&T to Build India's Largest Green Hydrogen Plant in Partnership with IOCL Panipat Refinery
Key Ideas
  • L&T's arm to establish India's largest green hydrogen plant at IOCL Panipat Refinery, producing 10,000 tonnes annually.
  • Aligned with India's National Green Hydrogen Mission to boost green hydrogen production and technology globally.
  • Project under build-own-operate model, supporting IOCL's decarbonization strategy and contributing to India's net zero goals.
  • L&T reinforces capability in delivering large-scale clean energy solutions and strengthens partnership with IOCL.
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is set to construct India's largest green hydrogen plant in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation's Panipat Refinery in Haryana. The plant, established by L&T's subsidiary L&T Energy GreenTech Ltd, will supply 10,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually to IOCL for a duration of 25 years, in line with India's National Green Hydrogen Mission. Operating 24/7 with green energy, the plant supports IOCL's efforts to decarbonize its refinery operations and aid in India's journey towards achieving net-zero carbon emissions. L&T's Deputy Managing Director highlighted the significance of this project in advancing India's energy transition and enhancing clean energy solutions at a large scale. The initiative not only solidifies the partnership between L&T and IOCL but also demonstrates L&T's commitment to sustainable practices and the promotion of green hydrogen technology. The project signifies a crucial step towards positioning India as a key player in the global green hydrogen market and showcases the potential for further collaborations in the renewable energy sector.
