Morocco is making significant strides in the renewable energy sector, aiming to double its current capacity by producing 20 gigawatts of renewable energy. Energy Transition and Sustainable Development Minister Leila Benali outlined the country's ambitious energy strategy during a session at the House of Representatives. Minister Benali emphasized Morocco's commitment to achieving energy sovereignty, particularly in the field of green hydrogen. The country's 'Green Hydrogen Offer' provides a supportive framework for project developers, attracting national and international investments. Morocco's strategic advantages, including its proximity to Europe and abundant renewable resources, position it as a key player in green hydrogen development. The government is also focusing on natural gas infrastructure development, with investments exceeding $700 million in pipelines and the construction of a LNG receiving terminal at the port of Nador. This infrastructure will support current and future power plants, demonstrating Morocco's efforts to diversify its energy sources and ensure energy security. Through collaboration with OPEC member countries and strategic infrastructure projects, Morocco is paving the way for a sustainable energy future, highlighting its commitment to environmental responsibility and economic growth.
